California Real Estate Brokers, Inc. Partners with Broker Public Portal and Invests in the Future of Consumer Home Search
The Broker Public Portal is the industry-led initiative formed by brokerages and multiple listing services (MLSs) to deliver a transparent, accurate, and consumer-first national MLS home search experience.
California Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (C.R.E.B.), the majority shareholder behind MetroList MLS, has partnered with Broker Public Portal (BPP) and become a Unit Holder, bringing MetroList listings to Cribio, BPP’s industry-owned home search platform.
This move reflects a broader shift happening across the real estate industry. Brokers and MLSs are no longer just participating in the consumer search experience. They are investing in it, shaping it, and taking responsibility for how listings are presented and how consumers connect with real estate professionals.
A Strategic Step Toward Industry Alignment
By both partnering with and investing in Broker Public Portal, C.R.E.B. is aligning its data strategy with a platform built on transparency, accuracy, and direct broker-to-consumer connection.
“As brokers, we have a responsibility to ensure our listings are showcased in environments that align with our values and preserve the integrity of our data,” said Isom Coleman, President of California Real Estate Brokers, Inc. “Partnering with Broker Public Portal gives us the opportunity to regain control, placing our listings on a platform that prioritizes transparency, data accuracy, and direct connections between the consumer and the professionals who represent those properties. This partnership enables us to reconnect with homebuyers at the right moment without the pressure of third-party lead diversion, ensuring a more authentic and meaningful relationship with our clients.”
This is not simply about distribution. It is about ensuring that listings are displayed in environments that reflect the values of the professionals who represent them. It is about protecting the integrity of listing data and reinforcing the relationship between the consumer and the brokerage.
Bringing MetroList Data to Cribio
Through this partnership, MetroList’s listings will be integrated into Cribio, expanding the platform’s national footprint and strengthening its ability to deliver accurate, MLS-sourced data directly to consumers.
Cribio is designed differently from traditional home search sites. It does not rely on advertising, does not sell leads, and does not rank agents based on payments. Instead, it connects consumers directly with the listing broker or agent, creating a more transparent and trustworthy experience.
“Providing brokers with a trusted, industry-aligned consumer search experience is central to the role we play in supporting the marketplace,” said Dave Howe, CEO and President of MetroList MLS. “This partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring the listing data is presented accurately, broker contributions are properly represented, and the consumers are connected directly to the professionals best positioned to serve them.”
For consumers, this means a simpler, more respectful way to explore homes. For brokers, it means their listings are presented accurately, and their role in the transaction is preserved.
From Participation to Ownership
C.R.E.B.’s decision to become a Unit Holder underscores a growing trend across the industry. Organizations are moving beyond participation and stepping into ownership, recognizing that long-term influence over the consumer experience requires both data and investment.
This is how an industry-owned platform grows. Not through fragmentation, but through alignment.
“California Real Estate Brokers, Inc. is making a clear statement about the importance of where and how listings are displayed,” said Dan Troup, CEO of Broker Public Portal. “By choosing an industry-owned platform, they are reinforcing a model that puts accuracy, transparency, and broker connection at the center of the consumer experience. This is exactly the kind of leadership that is shaping the future of home search.”
Each new partner and investor strengthens a shared model that prioritizes accuracy, transparency, and the broker-consumer relationship. It is a model built not for short-term gain, but for long-term trust.
Momentum That Continues to Build
The addition of C.R.E.B. reflects continued momentum behind Broker Public Portal and Cribio as more MLSs and broker organizations choose to support an alternative to ad-driven, lead-generation platforms.
Together, these organizations are building something different. A national home search experience powered by the people who create the data. A platform where consumers can explore homes without pressure. And a model where brokers remain at the center of the transaction.
This is what industry leadership looks like in today’s market.
